Friends of Jersey Care Leavers has been established by the Care Leavers' Association in order to show support and raise funds for the campaign of care leavers in Jersey. Since early 2008 the CLA has been visiting Jersey and working with care leavers there to help them to form an independent non-political group, which they have now doen. The Jersey Care Leavers' Association meets regularly and has established an office in St Helier. They have also launched a petition to gain an independent inquiry into the abuse allegations on the island. The Care Leavers' Association is supporting them in their activities and is coordinating the UK-side of the campaign. On 24th June 2008, we organised a meeting at the UK House of Commons, at which Jersey care leavers spoke and at which Friends of Jersey Care Leavers was launched. The meeting was very well attended by care leavers, MPs and representatives of voluntary sector organisations. All donations to Friends of Jersey Care Leavers will go towards the campaign to secure justice and support services for care leavers in Jersey.
