My story
Over 400 Premier League players sign up to Support Stan and they could be YOURS!
20 individual boards have been signed by every Premier League club, signatures include that of Sir Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard & Yaya Toure, over the 2012-13 season and are being be raffled off in a text-to-donate campaign that aims to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia to fund more specialist nurses to offer new treatments and drugs trials to leukaemia patients across the West Midlands. Chelsea signed their board at Villa Park on Saturday 10 May, completing the set.
And with this seasons big news events, some of the boards are now even more special and are sure to become collectors items! The Manchester United board includes the signatures of now retired Sir Alex Ferguson and legend Paul Scholes, the Everton board is signed by the new Man Utd manager David Moyes and the Chelsea board is signed by Frank Lampard - on the day he broke the all time goal scoring record at Chelsea and of course European cup winning manager Rafa Benitez.
Talking about the campaign, Stiliyan said: “The team at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham have been with me in my battle against leukaemia for many months. I have personal experience of how important it is to have access to specialist nurses, clinicians, pioneering drugs and treatments. Without the help of Cure Leukaemia, all this would not be available for other patients with their own battles with this disease.
“What we’re trying to do is draw people’s awareness to this illness and do something practical by raising funds and helping to combat the disease. I’m delighted that the cause has been supported by my team-mates and my colleagues throughout the Premier League. It’s very touching and the amount of money we raise can make a real difference.”
