Story
In May 2014, with a group of 20 colleagues, I will be visiting a local community - Kabaka - in Zambia where together with Build It International we will be building a new school with a small living facility to house its teachers.
This is a massive deal for the community, where currently families live on around 75p per day. It will equip them for a more hopeful and brighter future. The current school is tiny with no walls and consists of a structure with sticks, grass and tin.
The new school will allow 258 children the chance to study in a safe and secure building and once the new solar powered installation is complete, the building will be used for extra evening classes, adult literacy, extra-curricular projects and church meetings. A real integral pillar in the community.
I have a tough challenge ahead of me but a huge privilege to fundraise and visit the new community school next year as the finishing touches take shape and see first-hand what difference collective donations will make.
Please help in whatever way you can – I will be grateful for all donations, big and small because trust me, even if all you can spare is a pound - it will make a difference! Please dig deep and send a couple my way.
There will be a number of challenges I’ll be undertaking over the next few months so keep an eye out for what I’ll be doing and if you fancy donating in the meantime – please feel free!
Thanks so much, Susan x
