Clipper Round the World Race · 31 December 2020 ·
In 2012, I learned about the Clipper Round the World Race and began to ponder as a non sailor, could I do this?. Well, in 2016 I decided to apply and was accepted. Over the last 3 years I have saved hard to pay for my berth and trained hard with Clipper to learn the skills to become a competent crew member. I will be sailing two legs of the race beginning on September 1st. Leg 1 is from St Katherine's Dock in London across the Atlantic Ocean to Punta Del Esta in Uruguay arriving mid October. In February I will be rejoining the boat for Leg 6 from Zhouhai in China to Qingdao in China, and then Qingdao to Seattle across the North Pacific Ocean (minus temperatures, huge waves and snow! Yes, I am full of trepidation for this leg!) arriving 3rd week in April.
Clipper's charity partner is UNICEF (United Nations International Emergency Fund for Children) a great charity which does work in 190 countries (including the UK) to support children in crisis. To support UNICEF with fundraising, Clipper have donated a boat to the charity and I feel very privileged to have been allocated to the UNICEF boat for my Clipper race. We also have an amazing skipper, Ian Wiggins, he is the youngest skipper in the race, highly focussed and a real expert.
I genuinely appreciate that you have read this and would be grateful for any sponsorship you can manage. I would also love it if you came to wave me off from St Katherine's Dock on September 1st.
