Ashley Educational Trust was set up in 1978 to promote educational projects which foster a greater appreciation of personal freedom and responsibility along with an effective concern for others. It encourages young and old alike to volunteer their time and skills for service projects and provides opportunities to help increase their social awareness. We believe Christian principles contribute to character development and are the basis of good society, and we try to foster virtues such as loyalty, service and integrity in all of our activities. Coniston Hall university residence and Ashley Catering establishment are major projects of AET. Coniston offers a range of opportunities to complement the university experience and contributes to the all-round development of young women. In addition to an atmosphere conducive to study and intellectual enquiry, it provides possibilities of cultural and spiritual development. From day one, educational projects for the benefit of the local community have been promoted from Coniston Hall in Longsight, Ardwick, Hulme, Moss Side and Wythenshawe; Coniston Hall founded one of the original homework clubs in inner-city Manchester. Over 400 residents and other students have helped thousands of beneficiaries.

Story

Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I and my family have received so much in support, education and training from Ashley Educational Trust that I thought it was about time I did something in return!

My youngest daughter attends a club for girls run by the charity, where they have great fun and learn to be outward looking in the process.

Over the years I have learnt from being involved with various projects and activities that we can never fulfil our potential if we are thinking only of ourselves or our immediate circle.

For example, as a direct result of being involved with Ashley I recently made the decision to become a 'Fair Trader' despite a heavy timetable.

And when the children were younger I hosted parenting classes for myself and some friends with a teacher from the Ashley centre; these sessions were unforgettable for us all and I still use the ideas I learnt then.

We are not seasoned climbers so will be taking the 'easy' (Llanberis) path up Snowdon. The actual date of our climb is uncertain (British weather!) but it will be around the beginning of the summer holidays. Our youngest, Helen, is 11 but we are training for the climb and she is determined to be first to reach the top!

Please sponsor us if you can!
