This year I'm finally running the London Marathon - woohoo! I will be raising money for the Paul D'Auria Cancer Support Centre in Battersea.
Since losing my foster mum Peggy to cancer in 1998 I’ve raised money for cancer charities every year. Over the last 4 years I’ve fundraised for, and work with the Paul D'Auria Cancer Support Centre as a Home Visiting volunteer. It provides a much needed service to anyone affected by cancer - not just people who have cancer but also their friends, family and health care professionals. As a Home Visiting volunteer I get to see first hand how important the centre is to the people that use its services.
This year the Centre has the added challenge of moving premises in Spring and needs all the support it can get to maintain the high level of service that it provides to it's clients.
In 2007 I raised over £2,000 running the Stockholm Marathon. I would like your help to beat this and need YOU to sponsor me £1 per mile, which is only £26... or as much as you can! If the thought of me sweating it out isn't enough to part you from your hard-earned cash, I'm also offering a prize to the person who correctly guesses my finishing time!
To help you with your guestimate, I completed the Stockholm Marathon in 5 hours 14 mins, in 33 degree heat (!) and reduced training during the last few months due to injury.
This year I've recruited my super duper sports lecturer friend Chris to turn me into a lean mean running machine and will be following a strict training and nutritional regime (ahem)...
