TEAM STEVIE WONDER has come together to take on the Snowdonia Charity Challenge – now in it’s 10 year – raising funds for REGAIN.

Lead by tetraplegic hand-cyclist Steve Osborne the team will cycle 40 miles, ascend Snowdon and canoe Lake Gwynant on Saturday 12 June.   Steve will use his hand bike for the two cycle legs and transfer to a specially adapted wheelchair, kindly loaned by RGK, for the Snowdon climb.   He will be supported all the way by a great team of guys, though, frankly, we're pretty sure he’s going to be faster than most of them!

Well...they did it!   Team Stevie Wonder set off at 7.00am on the morning of Saturday 12th June.   Starting with the Snowdon climb leg they were up and down in an incredible 3 hours and 59 minutes (the recce team had thought it would take around 5 hours 30 mins so that was pretty good going!).  Once down it was back to the start point to switch to the bikes and set off on the 20 mile ride to the lake.   Off the bikes and into canoes for a very impressive 26min paddle around the course (one of the fastest times recorded).  Back on the bikes for the final 20 mile push home to complete the event in 8 hours and 57 minutes.   Check out the pictures here for a taste of what an amazing achievement this is...if you haven't already done so please consider making a donation to support this fantastic effort now...

REGAIN is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of all men and women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sports injury.

Tetraplegia is a result of a severe spinal cord injury affecting both sensation and mobility because messages to the brain have become interrupted.   A tetraplegic is unable to walk and has limited reach and dexterity because use of the arms is severely impaired.    Many accidents occur during active participation in sports – commonly rugby, cycling, skiing & snowboarding, riding – one minute the person is fit, active and healthy, the next they are payalysed and in need of support for the rest of their lives.  REGAIN exists to help them.

Life really can change in a second – a few seconds of your time can change a life – please support us by making a donation now

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now - thank you.
