About us
Joshua Kyallo - AMREF Uganda Country Director: An International Development Specialist who has served five International NGOs in different countries. I have been a dedicated sports person for many years and an avid soccer player. Keeping fit is my only addiction in life.
Susie Cox - AMREF UK Programme & Advocacy Manager: I have worked for AMREF for 4 years.. I used to be an avid sports fan in my early years and in recent years have taken on netball and running. I love these sports as they keep me fit and let me de-stress from my busy days at AMREF.
Why we are running
Joshua: Humanitarian service is my career in life and running for an INGO like AMREF whose noble work touches the poorest of the poor is a privileged and humbling experience.
Susie: I have worked for AMREF for 4 years and wanted to contribute something away from my regular line of work. It’s a huge physical challenge and I love pushing myself to run a little bit further every week. Put simply, AMREF is the best and most deserving charity in the world!
What will be the best bits and worst bits?
Joshua: the best bits will be the breathtaking experience of being part of the AMREF Team. The worst bit will probably be when the marathon is finished and I cannot run any further for AMREF.
Susie: the worst bit is definitely forcing myself to train during the cold English winter! The best bit is being able to eat as much chocolate as I like! I am also enjoying the physical challenge and am really looking forwards to being part of the AMREF team with Joshua. I am sure that Joshua will finish much faster than me though!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: African Medical and Research Foundation, UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
