Story

Last year four enthusiastic, well intentioned, soft and unfit Sustainers decided it would be a cool idea to enter the 2009 London Marathon. We were keen to support a local charity, the South West Childrens Heart Circle, that had offered support when needed by a colleague, and this was a fantastic way to offer support to them in return.

If only we had actually known what was required in time, sweat, blisters and tears to complete this challenge! Our story had a hugely happy ending though, when the team were able to present a cheque to a very grateful SWCHC  for £10,000.00.

The effort has caught the imagination of others in Sustain, and this year a team of six couch potatoes are entering the race, with the aim of hopefully raising another huge sum of money for the Heart Circle for the second year running. (Running. See what I did there...never mind).

Please, please find it in yourself to support the team this year and pledge some funds through this fundraising page. We can't explain how much it would mean to us, the Children and the families being cared for at the Heart Circle.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

The Heart Circle supports children undergoing cardiac care at the Bristol Children's Hospital, and their families. It covers an area from Cornwall to South Wales. The charity provides support from parents who have had similar experiences, social events, a caravan for short breaks and equipment to make the children's lives easier.
