Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for the charity Saving Faces. Founded in 2000, it conducts research into facial diseases such as oral cancer, facial disfigurement, and facial injury. Recent work includes trying to halt smoking and binge drinking amongst teenagers. Smoking and alcohol are strongly linked to oral cancer, and a high proportion of facial injuries are due to alcohol fuelled assaults and violence. In addition the charity is also carrying out clinical trials into the use of neck dissection in surgical treatment of oral cancer and microcytoscopy in the detection of oral cancer. Saving Faces carries out vital research into the treatment and prevention of facial diseases and injuries, both of which can have hugely detrimental consequences; physical, psychological, and aesthetic, for the patients.
