UCLH Charity provides support for patients, staff and medical research at UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The hospitals treat not only local residents, commuters and visitors to the area but also provide highly specialised services for patients referred from all over the UK and from abroad. The Trust has a reputation for innovation and providing patient focussed care, with ambitions to be a world class centre for clinical services, teaching and research. In the past the Charity has provided state of the art medical equipment for UCL Hospitals, invested in health initiatives for staff and funded academic medical research projects in conjunction with University College London. Current projects included a £3m joint venture with UCL Hospitals to develop a pioneering education centre, and the investment of £7m, from past legacies, in biomedical research. We are also developing a UCLH homeless healthcare service, responding to an ‘invisible’ patient group who often lack representation. Your gift is vital, to help us support this essential work into the future.

My story

On October 3^rd 2009, Suzanne and Suzie will commence the eight day long climb up Kilimanjaro, which is the tallest free standing mountain in the world. From base camp where we start, we’ll be climbing 5,000m vertical which makes it a round trip of 74km. This is an extremely arduous climb in often sub zero conditions, camping out under the stars, aching limbs not forgetting the day of the summit an anticipated 15 hours of climbing, it is far from an easy feat!

We are raising money this year for an innovative research project into brain cancer, specifically Glioblastomamultiforme ( GBM ) which is being conducted atUniversityCollegeHospital.

All the money that you give will go to the Research project as we have covered all the costs of our own trip.

With further research, we can help improve the survival rates for those diagnosed with GBM and really make a difference, so please dig deep and help us. Thanks.
