Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

My grandfather, Alfred, was a strong, physically healthy northerner and the greatest man I have ever known. He was diagnosed with dementia when I was 14 years old, and over the following two years I witnessed him deteriorate before our eyes into a shell of what he once was. The care that he was given was extremely poor, by people who had little understanding of the support that he needed. He passed away when I was still a teenager, and it's so sad that my family and I lost potentially years with him because of this horrible disease.

Any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated...
