Edinburgh Marathon 2008 · 25 May 2008 ·

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

So Ewan tells me that I can't run 26 miles....but how hard can it actually be?!  Its only the distance from Beith to Glasgow, and that only takes 25 minutes in the car....no problem!

All joking aside, dementia is an issue which has affected our family over the last few years.  Watching our vibrant, headstrong and independent Nana slowly fade was heartbreaking, particularly for my beloved Papa.  Alzheimer Scotland offer support to families who aren't as lucky to have a support system as strong as ours.  They offer care to those with dementia and their carers; providing day care, help in the home, support groups and invaluable information to those coping with the disease.

It is estimated that by 2031, over 100,000 adults in Scotland will be suffering from dementia, but as yet, drugs can only help treat the symptoms, there is no cure.

So on the 25th of May, I'll be running the Edinburgh marathon and hoping to raise as much as possible for Alzheimer Scotland.

Thank you so much for any support.
