Stacey's Facing my Boggart - Holding a Snake

Facing my Boggart - Holding a Snake · 1 May 2014
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in the Phoenix Rising Chapter Harry Potter Alliance Chapter's 'Face Your Boggart' campaign.
Phoenix Rising's mission is to address issues of social justice through the power of story, and there are a number of campaigns and fundraising drives currently ongoing.
For this campaign, we turn to the Harry Potter books, where a Boggart turns into the thing you fear and you need to challenge the idea of your fear to overcome the Boggart.
I myself am petrified of snakes - I'm talking 'throw a magazine down on the floor if it has a picture of one' petrified, but I have decided to be brave (and try not to pass my ridiculousness on to my kids) and raise some money by holding one of the slithery little blighters.
Hopefully, purely the chance of seeing a grown woman have a heart attack will encourage you to dig deep for something that is a genuine hardship - I've done a race for life and that was easy peasy compared to this!
I have decided to support The Victoria Cross Trust with my fundraising, as it's a charity I support and am a member of. Only those VC recipients who have died in combat have their graves tended by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, but where the VC recipient has died of old age, they are often left in a state of disrepair. The charity aims to save the graves of our bravest and most decorated soldiers from crumbling in the hopes that future generations will not forget their stories and their bravery.
If you would like to join me and face your fear please visit the relevant page on our blog to find out how to 'Face Your Boggart'. We are asking for a small donation to our chapter funds so that we can continue to address issues of social justice in our area but beyond that any funds you raise will be directed at the charity of your choice.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
