We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

some of you may know that in november 2005 my oldest son who was then 14 was very ill and spent some time in great ormond street hospital.he came home from school one day fine and within half an hour was in a coma he had a bleed in his brain. when he was taken to gosh they put a shunt in his head to drain the fluid which was building up because of the bleed. two days later they did an mri scan because there was no improvement and we found out that he also had a brain tumour. most of it was removed a couple of days later and two days after that he came out of the intensive care unit.

since leaving hospital it has been a hard long road for him to try and get back to some sort of normality from learning to eat again to walking again and even speaking again and even though there are still problems and he will never be how he was he has been amazing throughout and gone through most of it with a smile on his face.

my son is going to be 18 in june this year and it is something we thought we may not see at one point and i think without the surgeons and icu staff we really wouldnt have. so no matter how hard things have been or how sad i sometimes get, i am greatful to them everyday and that is why i have decided to do a sponsered trek in machu picchu, the lost inca city in peru. if you would like to find out more about the trek why not have a look at the gosh web site at  www.gosh.org

please donate some money for this amazing childrens hospital.  none of that short arms long pockets business okay,  give what you can .

thank you
