Dragon Boat Challenge · 15 July 2012

We raise funds for research that will lead to the successful treatment and eventual elimination of kidney disease. The lives of many people are seriously affected by kidney disease. Kidney failure is an extremely debilitating illness. Research is the only answer to find a prevention or a cure.

Story

Update:  The race is rescheduled for September 9th!  Keep those donations coming in!

Update:  The race was cancelled on the 15th - heavy rain caused a red flag situation on the Thames.  All is not lost, the event will be rescheduled and we will post the date as soon as it is confirmed.

Every year the Sweaty Kidney Scientists take to the river to raise desperately needed funds for kidney research.   This year we have a few new team members, including Dr David Makanjuola and Dr Jonathan Kwan (who is back in the UK!)

The team takes part in three heats and hopes to reach the finals - there's no harm in hoping!!  Last year Mike Bending described our strategy as 'start slow and get slower' - and we pretty much achieved that!  Despite the slowness it was very hard work and a huge effort, and we raised about £10,000!!  Let's try and do better this year!

Many thanks for your support of this huge team effort, and do try and drop by Canbury Gardens on the 15th July to cheer us on and visit out charity stall between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm!
