We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

We are dusting off our trainers and running (walking) Cancer Research UK's Race for Life in June and joining in with the fight against cancer.

Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring us, we can unite and create an army that cancer can't ignore.

Don't forget to add Gift Aid :)

Here are some of our stories:
Doreen - I am now doing this in the memory of Linda, my dearest friend of 25 years who lost her life to cancer on Sunday 10th May 2015. I want to help raise money to help anyone have just a few more extra days, months and years with their loved ones.

Helen - Like Doreen, this is now in memory of my Granny who sadly lost her fight with cancer on Monday 11th May 2015. Cancer has taken away both my Granny and my Grandpa and I want to fight back.

Angela - My friend having initially been diagnosed with a blocked milk duct was eventually told she had breast cancer just months after having her baby boy, she underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Unfortunately after having reconstructive surgery and removal of all her lymph nodes she was left with an unusable left arm which trebled in size and left her in constant pain and unable to hold her baby. I watched my friend go into remission and then bravely fight the return of this awful disease for nearly 6 years until she was finally taken. Being a single mother she has the unbearable knowledge that she would be leaving behind her 15 year old daughter to care for her 5 year old brother. The courage and determination I witnessed over those 5 years will stay with me forever, she was a formidable character who never once did I see even shed a tear, and she would never let you cry for her either (which I obviously did anyway). I promise I will walk as fast as I can to raise as much money as I can on the day.

Jane - 18 months ago I lost my best friend to cancer, then 2 months later my Dad was diagnosed with a tumour. Following surgery, they found it had spread, but two cycles of chemotherapy have been unsuccessful, so options for him are now very limited. Cancer Research UK's work is vital in finding new treatments and cures for this disease which is now affecting so many of our lives.
