Story

Thank you for visiting our just giving page and helping raise money for Jamie.

I first heard about Jamie 2 years ago when my husband, who is also in the army, and I were posted in Germany. All across the army community fundraisers where organized to help Jamie get the treatment in America.

Then the shock a few weeks ago when I found out that Jamie relapsed.

We now live in Cyprus, RAF Akrotiri. so I thought I'd organize a fundraiser in aid of Jamie.

Thanks to the support of a lot of lovely people a date was set within a few days and a lot of people from the army and RAF community offered there support.

So on the 02-Sep-2012, from 8 am to 1pm, we will swim as many miles as possible and hopefully raise a lot of money. Please give as much or little as you can. Every penny counts. If you live in the area feel free to come to the Akrotiri swimming pool and swim a few lengths for Jamie.

Our aim is to swim the distance between Jamie's home and Germany, where he will receive the treatment.

Jamie has relapsed neuroblastoma. He has been fighting neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer, since he was 3 ½ years old. He has beaten the disease once but sadly the cancer has come back. Jamie’s immediate treatment will be radiotherapy and chemotherapy to try and get the disease under control. As we do not have any relapse treatment protocols in the UK, Jamie’s best chance of beating neuroblastoma is to travel abroad for treatment.

His best hope for survival lies in Germany. The treatment Jamie needs costs £250,000 and will not be funded by the NHS which is why he needs your support.
