Gold Challenge · 31 December 2012 ·
As a team Swindon Shock was formed to assist young people in a transition stage from youth centres to club status. By joining the club young people were still able to go back into youth centres as a volunteers. In addition to volunteering and playing basketball, young people also got key opportunities to receive sporting qualifications, while picking up valuable experience assistant coaching. This in turn produced coaches for local authorities and schools in an area where we are struggling for after school clubs. To date Swindon Shock has coaches with Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Officiating, Table Officiating, Fitness Instructing, Quicksticks, Ultimate Frisbee & much more. Working closely with leisure services our coaches have CRB, Child Protection and emergency first aid certification.
Swindon Shock Basketball Club wants to say thank you to StreetGames for all its support and are participating in the gold challenge to raise £1000 for the StreetGames National Charity.
