Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my JustGiving page

As you may see, this upcoming summer I shall be climbing the tallest free standing mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise money and support the amazing charity Practical Action. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Tanzania and in all Africa reaching up to 5,895m/19, 340ft tall. This makes it one of the seven summits on the agenda of climbers aiming to scale the highest peaks in each of the world’s continents. A Mount this high is a serious undertaking due to its high altitude and the risk of ASM (Acute Mountain Sickness). A good level of fitness is required, particularly for summit day, when on most routes the steep limb can reach nearly 1,400m up.

Practical Action uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. Our strength is our approach!  They find out what people are doing and they help them do it better. Through technology they enable poor communities to build on their skills and knowledge to produce sustainable and practical solutions - transforming their lives forever and protecting the world around them. By doing this we help around a million of people break out of the cycle of poverty ... for good.

£10 could buy a life-saving fuel-efficient stove for six families in Darfur, reducing the time women spend collecting firewood, fearing for their lives.

£25 could provide farmers in Sudan with a plough and soft harness that is kind to the donkey that pulls it, increasing productivity and reducing soil erosion.

£40 could buy a specially-designed potter's wheel which is culturally acceptable to women in Bangladesh, as it can be operated by pedals instead of sitting astride the wheel, allowing women at last to earn the money they desperately need to feed their families.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please give as much as YOU want because ever LITTLE helps!!

If you can, please donate online or text SYLV91 to 70070 and the amount you would like to sponsor me to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - texting is free and all the donation will go to PRACTICAL ACTION!
