Story
On Sunday 3 May 2009 we will be cycling 32 miles along the Taff Trail from the Pontsticill Reservoir down to Cardiff Bay... all in the name of charity!
We would love it if you could sponsor us please so that our tired legs and saddle sores can help to raise some money for the Brain Research Trust.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Brain Research Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Hi, my name is Bryn Ruston,
I went home from work on April the 18th 2007 and suffered a large seizure, and woke up in the University Hospital of Wales two days later, to be told I had a Brain Tumour. From that day on my life changed completely, and that of my family’s too. This all happened without any warning- up until that day I had been a fit and healthy 40-year old.
My Brain Tumour type is a mixed Oligodendoglioma/Astrocytoma for which the prognosis is not good, with a median survival rate of 5.4 years. As yet there is no cure for a Brain Tumour. Having been through two craniotomies and lengthy periods of sickness, which has left me with long term symptoms, I am determined to make each day count in any way I can, which is one of the reasons we are doing a ride in support of The Brain Research Trust (BRT).
The BRT funds research projects into the cause of Brain Tumours, of which little is known. If the cause can be identified, a successful treatment could possibly be found. Research into causes and treatment of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, Stroke, Epilepsy, Migraine, Parkinson's, Ataxia, Huntington's, Dystonia and Multiple Sclerosis amongst many others, are also funded by the BRT, making it a very worthwhile cause.
The ride we will be doing will start from Pontsicll Reservoir near the Brecon Beacons, following the Taff trail down through Merthyr, Pontypridd, Taffs Well, into Cardiff and finish at the Oval Basin at the end of the Trail in Cardiff Bay. This is both challenging and achievable being just over 32miles long and taking an average time of 4hrs+, depending on the participant’s ability.
Please support this very worthy cause by joining in the ride and collecting sponsorship, or by making a donation, which can be done online, or by contacting myself, or my wife Linda.
Thank You,
Bryn
