MuslimHands - Climb Kilimanjaro - Children of War · 30 March 2009

Together with local partners and country offices, we’re working in the world’s poorest countries to tackle the root causes of poverty and respond in emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Story

Salaam/Hello Everyone,

In case you're not aware I am intending on Trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro for charity inshallah.  This will mean climbing the highest free standing mountain in the world at a peak of almost 20,000 feet, just hope I don't pass out by then! All in aid to raise money for children in war torn areas.  The money will be provided to those a lot less privileged then us and hopefully provide them with some glimmer of hope amongst all the turmoil which surrounds them.  I plan to exceed the £3,000 limit and this will not be possible without generous individuals like yourselves.

About the Trek

The Trek is taking place between 2nd - 12th July during the Green Ribbon Week, organised by Muslim Hands.  It will involve trekking amongst various points eventually reaching the Summit of approx 19,000ft, after which I will be spending a day with MH Tanzania.  Due to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, all money raised from the Challenge will go towards helping the children of Gaza rebuild their lives.  Last year, volunteers raised over £80,000 for children in some of the devastated countries in the world and this year I hope we raise a lot more.

1st Deadline = 17th May - Minimum £2,250

2nd Deadline = 1st July - Further £750

I would like to thank you in advance for taking your time to navigate to this page.  Contribution or not, I hope in some way this page provides you with an insight of some of the atrocities taking place around the world.  Remember, a smile can even be seen as charity, so don't stop smiling : )

It is not required of thee (O Messenger), to set them on the right path, but Allah sets on the right path whom He pleaseth. Whatever of good ye give benefits your own souls, and ye shall only do so seeking the "Face" of Allah. Whatever good ye give, shall be rendered back to you, and ye shall not Be dealt with unjustly. (Surah: Al-Baqara, Verse: 272)

The Prophet PBUH said:  “If a human dies, then his good deeds stop except for three: a Sadaqa Jariah (continuous charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him”. Narrated by Muslim.

Lets concentrate on what brings us together then what sets us apart.
