We help young Australian performing artists to study in the United Kingdom

Story

An special evening with Southbank Sinfonia in support of the Sir Charles Mackerras Chair supported by Tait Memorial Trust

With special guests
Danielle De Niese soprano and David Syrus conductor
on Wednesday 29 June 2011at Australia House.

The evening’s performance will include a selection of Mozart’s finest works, for which we are joined by Australian-born soprano Danielle De Niese, recently described by the New York Times as "Opera's coolest soprano". David Syrus, Head of Music at the Royal Opera House, conducts. For more information on the evening, please contact info@taitmemorialtrust.org .

The Tait Memorial Trust joined Southbank Sinfonia in creating an endowed chair in Sir Charles Mackerras's honour.

Southbank Sinfonia (SbS) is Britain's orchestra of young professionals and since, its formation in 2002, has become established as the country's leading orchestral academy. SbS's reputation has attracted engagements at leading venues such as Royal Opera House, the National Theatre, BBC Concert Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Under the guidance of an experienced board and management team, the orchestra members, each supported by bursary, engage in an intensive eight-month programme of performance and development, including a comprehensive community education programme.

With the Sir Charles Mackerras Chair, the Tait Memorial Trust and Southbank Sinfonia hope to engage a young Australian professional musician to join the yearly programme. The annual bursary is £10,000 a year.

Please help us support a young Australian musician in this fine programme!
