Story
Wellcome to Donald Pang's fundraising page.
I am running this years' Flora London Marathon for HEART UK, the cholesterol charity.
Ever since I've been told that I have a genetic defect predisposing me to high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels I've had to live with the fact that I'd be more likely to suffer a stroke than my friends and that I'd have to especially watch my diet and excercise levels. Most of the deaths in my family have been due to stroke and their after-effects and other cardiovascular events, and I have witnessed how crippling and devastating it can be to see a loved one suddenly being transformed from a vibrant person to a bed-bound life-long hospital patient. I've since vowed to dedicate my studies and career to cardiovascular diseases as I'm studying medicine at UCL and also doing a PhD on genetics of cardiovascular disease. I would like to further contribute to this area by helping to raise money for research which ultimately will benefit all of us.
In order to raise money and give HEART UK the publicity me and my running mate Andrew Smith (www.justgiving.com/mallowman) are planning to break the Guiness Book of World Records "Tallest costume to run a marathon" record by running as the giant Mr. Stay Puft (see picture on the left), a figure from the movie "Ghostbusters". The current record stands at 14 feet and we plan to break this mark by a significant margin. We are building the costume ourselves and a blog on the progress of the building can be found here.
I really need your help to raise £1500 and would be very grateful for any sponsoring that you could provide!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: HEART UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
