We offer care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My wife Vicky was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and it has been a really difficult time ever since. I feel a sense of helplessness and so I have decided to use my passion for cycling in a productive way. I want to raise money for Breast Cancer Care who provide invaluable support to women and their families affected by breast cancer.

Jake Medley is joining me on a very challenging bike ride from Tamworth to Switzerland, over just 6 days. Vicky is going to be in the support car, together with Tim & Sue Mudd who have kindly agreed to share the driving. Tim's sister Carolynne is staying at Tim's at the moment whilst she undergoes treatment for this disease. Paul Grater and his wife Beata are assisting greatly by becoming main sponsors and helping towards the travelling costs. Beata is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer too.

We depart on Saturday 13th June and cycle 125 miles to Hull. After an overnight ferry to Europe, we then cycle through Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany & Switzerland, arriving at ex-BR/Chiltern driver Marc Jones' Mountain House in the Swiss Alps. We will have covered almost 700 miles, averaging around 115 miles per day, climbing a total of just over 30,000 feet, which is more than the height of Mount Everest!!!

Breast cancer is sadly far too common and affects younger women too. Tim, Paul and myself are unfortunately all too aware of what it is like for our loved ones to go through this terrible disease and the intensive treatment. It is so unfortunate that this disease is currently affecting three Birmingham CrossCountry drivers.

Please make the effort to sponsor us on this epic challenge, every penny helps. All sponsorship money will go to Breast Cancer Care.

Thank you for visiting our page.
