Update 2 June: This is it, we're off tomorrow morning! The Oxford Mail is sending a photographer round to record our departure for posterity.
Update Sunday 28th May: after plucking a fundraising target of £1000 out of the air, we are overwhelmed to see so much support from so many people - we know that every extra pound counts to the hospice.
It all started with a bit of idle chat in the pub ... anyway, we're cycling to Edinburgh on our purple tandem and several friends said they'd sponsor us if we organised it. So, here it is - organised!
We're cycling to a wedding in the first week in June - about 420 miles from Oxford, wiggling up the country, stopping off with friends at various points on the way. It's a nice holiday for us but we realise it's a great opportunity to support the wonderful people at the hospice, who made a difficult time a lot more human and bearable when Gavin's mum, Jo, died last summer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Sobell House Hospice Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. However, if you would prefer to do it the old-fashioned way, please send a cheque made out to Sobell House Hospice Charity to us at 15 Holyoake Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 8AF and we'll forward the money to the hospice. If you'd like a paper sponsor form to take round friends and neighbours please email us at gavink@tiscali.co.uk and we'll forward the form to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Gavin & Philippa
