Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) - Sky Dive · 15 September 2012 ·

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

I did it!  And WOW!  A truly A-MAZ-ING experience, which I highly, highly recommend to everyone.  I was also surrounded by my wonderful family and a few dear friends.  But best of all I have nearly reached my target for the wonderful Hospice of St. Francis... so if you have not already sponsored do PLEASE help me on the last 2%...  September 17 was the 4th anniversary of my wonderful darling Allan's passing and raising funds for this incredible hospice, that provide such special care when time is so precious, is a great way to celebrate the life he loved so much!

Original message........I am ‘so not your outward bound type’ and exiting an airplane at around 13,000 feet, accelerating to 120 mph, covering each thousand feet in approximately 5 seconds, and the
remaining 5,000 feet in a further four minutes seems very, very scary, but I felt if I was to ask national and international friends and colleagues to support what is a fairly localised charitable organisation I would need to do something very challenging!

I am doing the jump in Allan’s memory... he really was an incredibly special fellow.... besides his great looks and charm he loved and lived life to the full, had a great sense of humour and sense of fun, very honest and loyal, a tremendous lover and husband, a devoted Father and a very loving ‘Pops’ to our five super grandchildren. Allan also left a legacy in the spa world in the creation of such iconic brands as Champneys - UK, and Chiva-Som in Thailand. Plus the very positive and extremely courageous way he handled
his illness to the very end was nothing short of inspirational to all those around him.

We were so fortunate to have the beautiful Hospice of St. Francis virtually on our doorstep and the Medical Director, Dr. Ros Taylor, and the Hospice Team were tremendous every step of the way.... I really cannot praise them highly enough. Only 20% of the £3.7 million needed each year to provide a range of vital services to patients and their loved ones when time is so precious is provided by the Government. Please, please, in the memory of Allan, support me and the Hospice of St. Francis. To learn more about the hospice and the great work they do visit their website www.stfrancis.org.uk
