My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have wanted to set myself the challenge of doing a tandem skydive for years, but never really found it in myself to get organised. It's all part of my great big list of things to do before I am too old and wrinkly to do them!

I discovered Acorns when I started my current job last year, as one of the team has strong links to them, and wanted to do something to make a difference. After some initial investigation into fundraising ideas (it's a bit difficult to do a cake sale or something in an office with 3 other people!) I realised I could fulfill a lifelong ambition and raise money. Acorns already organise these days, so I am officially out of excuses!

OK, so what do they do? Acorns Children's Hospice currently cares for over 600 life limited children and their families across the Heart of England. Acorns specialist nursing and support services provide a vital lifeline for these families who would face a much tougher challenge coping alone.

Acorns must not let these families down and they are calling on people like you and me to come forward to help them in this vital work.

They also have shops across the region, where you can donate unwanted items, as well as numerous other activities going on throughout the year.

I will be throwing myself (strapped to a very macho instructor I hope!) out of a plane on 15th August 2010. I do have minimum sponsorship criteria I have to meet, so do please give what you can. I know times are hard, but as the saying goes, every little helps!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
