The Team

David Baddeley, Simon Norton, Sam Crowder, Paul Perry, Jose Maria Garcia & Barry Taylor

This years International team will see Jose Maria representing Airbus Military alongside his collegues from Thales Air Operations. Martin Kelly and Andrew Slater have kindly offered up their weekend to drive the team from peak to peak, making sure we dont get lost on the way!

Update: Training is underway with the Breacon Beacons and Exmoor providing good practice for the team (see picture inset), we have been busy raising money at work with the Wii challenge and a sweepstake for anyone guessing the fastest time.

Three Countries, 474 miles, Three Peaks, 3407 Vertical Metres in 24 hours.

The Three Peaks Challenge will see the Thales team tackle the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in less than 24 hours.

The Team will begin climbing Ben Nevis at 16:00hrs on 23rd May, ascending nearly 1344 metres to the summit in under 3 hours, followed by a swift 2.5 hour decent back to the bottom and speedy dinner in the waiting vehicles. We are then driven 265 miles to the base of England’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike.

Arriving at Scafell Pike around 02:30 in the morning the team begin the night assent of England's Tallest mountain. Its dark, cold and more than likely raining and more to the point this is the second mountain after a cramped 6 hour car journey.

At around 07:00hrs we will summit Scafell turn straight back and head down to the vehicles that will take us the final 209 miles into the heart of Wales and to the base of Mount Snowdon.

At 11:00hrs we will begin the final part of our challenge the 24km round trip up Mount Snowdon. By this point we have already traversed 4616 vertical metres with a lack of proper sleep and rest.

Around 13:00hrs and we will stand at the highest point in Wales feeling a sense of pride and achievement… only to remember in order to complete the challenge we have to return to the base of Snowdon by 16:00.
