Story
My uncle Richard James was a great man, a loving father and grandfather, and a perfect husband to my auntie Lorraine.
He was a such a positive and witty man full of laughter! I always looked forward to visiting, especially on Boxing Day! As silly as it sounds I looked forward to my uncles boiled bacon more than Christmas dinner!
He loved the television and reading the newspaper, guaranteed on his days off he would be sat of the sofa with his magnifying glass (that we nicknamed 'his eye') reading the paper and watching the rugby!
A few years ago, Richard was diagnosed with cancer, but through the ups and downs he still stayed positive! Throughout my uncles illness he visited Velindre Hospital for numerous different treatments, and the support they gave him and my auntie Lorraine was unbelievable. The doctors and nurses there are so caring, my auntie always commented on their good work, in particular the support given by Dr.Adams and his team which was above and beyond the call of duty. They made life a little more bearable for my uncle, knowing there are people that are working as hard as they can to find a cure.
On December 13th 2012 at the age of 61 my uncle, Richard James, sadly lost his fight to cancer.
I will be running the Cardiff half marathon in memory of him! To raise money for the Velindre Cancer Centre, the only place that gave my auntie and uncle the hope, care, and attention that they needed in their times of struggle. To help them to continue to give this care please sponsor me as much as you can, every pound will help.
I Will Run For You
I will run for you, come rain or shine.
I will run for you, in your name not mine.
As an uncle and a friend.
I will run for you, until the end.
A little bit about me
For those of you who don't know me I'm 23 years old, I have two beautiful children Ruby and Tyler, and a loving partner Chris. At the moment I'm a full time mummy trying to juggle motherhood along with my hobby of making celebration cakes. I have never ran a marathon in my life, and honestly, I'm the kind of person who would use the car to go to the corner shop! so as you can imagine I'm not at all fit! Since my uncles death I've had a strong urge to raise money in his name and I believe this will be a good challenge to take!
So I'm asking you as a friend, to give me your well needed support, in the biggest challenge of my life, to sponsor me. In aid of Velindre Cancer Centre, and in memory of my uncle Richard James (1951-2012)
