Story
In less than 12 hours the Cartwright brothers plan to canoe the 10.5 mile length of Lake Windemere, cycle 26 miles over England's steepest road pass, the 1:3 gradient Wrynose and finally, conquer Scafell Pike, navigating an 8.5 mile route from Wasdale Head to the Langdale Valley.
Why? Because we want to make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children who maybe don't share in some of the opportunites that our children take for granted. Everyone is someone's son or daughter.
Training has revealed additional challenges - the collective weight is reducing nearer that 49 stone target ("49'ers") but we accept that we are likely to be the largest crew in a canoe that day! Cycle will be challenging but the bikes are good to go! ...and it isn't so big a hill as we have in our back yard in Scotland! Still some dispute about leadership roles on the day but entirely expected between brothers! We also trust that support driver Amanda Jeram will wait around longer than 12 hours if necessary?
