My name is Emma Lewis and I have OI (Osteogenesis Imperfecta). I am a Trustee of the Brittle Bone Society which is the charity which helps people with OI across the UK and I really want to support the work they do . On 14th May 2010 my sister Rachel, my friend Lauren and I were tattooed in the name of all the members of the Brittle Bone Society.
The Brittle Bone society has provided great support for my family, from equipment to advice and beyond, the charity tries to help people suffering from the disability along with those around them. We are always looking for new ways to help members, this year for instance we held a pilot conference for teens-30, called vOIce; and it's to enable us to continue to expand on the help we provide that led to the three of us trying to raise money by getting tattoo's.
Obviously I was unable to do a Marathon or sponsored walk, so the only idea I could come-up with of doing something akin to that extent was to get the 'Wishbone' logo somewhere everyone could see, luckily for me my good friend Lauren and sister Rachel (who's never had a tattoo before and would never have one unless for a good cause) felt the same and decided to join me.
We were then lucky enough to have one of the most renowned tattoo studios' in Wales: "Tattoo U" and their amazing people Parry and Megan not only agreeing to do press for us, but to even do the tattoos' for free!
As you will see from the photo our tattoos look amazing, we are going to have them filled in in a few weeks time.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far, and to those who haven’t please give whatever amount you can to support the Brittle Bone Society and all the amazing work they do.
