Story
UPDATED 05/10/2008
We are overwhelmed at the level of support we have had. Our walk was a great success, 60 started and at least 40 completed the long long way. Our hillwalkers have done the Buachille, well done to Paul Mills and John Currie for getting to the summit, and also to Tam, Gail, Gillian, Siobhan and everyone else who did the hillwalk. Derrick completed the marathon in 3 hours 30 minutes with a cold!! He did really really well............
Thanks to everyone for their donations, whether it has been cash or even water and provisions for the walkers.
We at Tayside Sands are a group of bereaved parents who meet monthly to support each other through our grief and share experiences. We would like to help National Sands with the Why 17? Campaign and also raise funds for a soon to be SANDS room at our local hospital, Ninewells Dundee. Any funds we raise will be split 50/50 between National Sands and Tayside Sands.
Each of us in this group have questioned Why?
Why did our precious babies die?
Why are so many babies born dead or die in the first few weeks of life each year?
The bond between parents, family and baby begin long before birth, love is there very early on and the impact of a baby's death ripples out to everyone involved. Sands knows that there is so much more can be done to prevent these tragic and cruel deaths.
Will you help us to ensure that as few families as possible experience this terrible loss in the future?
The group is organising a 17k walk in Dundee from Camperdown House to Discovery Point and back again on Sunday 14th September, also one of our parent's is running the Dundee Marathon on Saturday 20th September and friends of the group are doing a hill walk to the summit of Buachaille Etive Mor in Glencoe in Saturday 13th September.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SANDS gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
