Target Charity Club

We are a group of staff and friends that raise money for our chosen charities. Every year we carry out a challenge in aid of a range of charities. This year we are attempting the national three peaks starting with Snowdon followed by Scafell Pike and ending with Ben Nevis. We will be starting at 10 am Saturday 20th June and finishing before 10 am Sunday 21st June. For this challenge we are supporting the Headway charity.

The walkers for this years event are:

Suzanne Brooke, Greg Dow, Meurig Evans, Cheryl Gape, James Lewis, Louise Moseley, Clare Nelson, Karen O'Brien, Rachel Ovett, George Payer, James Rudolf, Dylan Thomas, Leanne Thomas, James Trivett, Philip Watts, Michael Williams, Rhiannon Williams

The support team are:

Hayley Morgan, Mike Slee, John Stephenson and Tony Wilson

National Three Peaks Challenge

The challenge is not only to walk up Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis but to carry this out in under 24 hours! To some people this may seem just a bit of a stroll so here are a few facts to put it into context.

Snowdon: The route is 13km up the Pyg Track starting at 360m rising to the summit at 1085m. The plan is to take 4 hours which is a good pace. Most people will do this in 6 hours and this is when this is the only peak they are walking! The start time for this will be 10am finishing at 2pm. The driving time to Scafell is 3 hours.

Scafell Pike: The route is 14km starting at Seathwaite at 130m rising to the summit at 977m. The plan is to take 5 hours for this peak. This is a slog with the return leg retracing the path. The start time for this will be about 5pm finishing at 10pm. The driving time to Ben Nevis is about 7 hours.

Ben Nevis: The route for this final peak is 15km starting at 15m rising to 1343m! The plan is to take 5 hours to walk this zig zag path. As this is the last peak the walkers will be at their lowest energy reserves. So to add to their exhaustion the temperature drop between the bottom and the top is around 8 degrees Celsius. The start time will be about 5am and with luck finishing before 10am!

Fundraising

Please give generously to this worthwhile cause remember this is not a little stroll in the park but a 42km hike up and down 2800m (probably with some dehydration, headaches and sleep deprevation thrown in)! All the walkers and support staff pay for their own meals and accomodation to maximise the money that goes to charity.
