Story
We are now back from the tour!! All riders successfully completed their rides. My final mileage was 722 miles. We had sun all of the way and with no accidents or mishaps we all really enjoyed ourselves. We arrived into Zurich on 9th June where a reception awaited us.
Thanks for all your support this far, it has been outstanding! The original £750 target was smashed and so I have raised it to £1000. It would be great if we could reach this target!
Thanks Again
Stefan :)
The Tour de Zurich is a 750 mile cycle starting on 1st June 2006 from Birmingham and finishing in Zurich, Switzerland 9 days later. Employees of Zurich Financial Services will be taking part, and the initial Birmingham team will cycle through Cheltenham, Swindon and Whiteley on the way to Portsmouth, accumulating riders along the way. I will join the ride at Swindon where, all being well, I will remain with the others until the finish. We sail to Caen on the 2nd of June and then set off through France the next day arriving in Zurich on the 9th.
I am a cycling novice, in fact I only bought my bike a few months ago. Having finished university last year and having done relatively little exercise since, I thought it was about time to get off my arse and do something worthwhile!
Although your moneys will be collected by the Zurich Community Trust (UK), it has been agreed that they will transfer the proceeds to the Isle of Man charity fund, who will then distribute the money to my choice of charity. I have chosen to donate the money raised to the Isle of Man branch of the Anthony Nolan trust. The Anthony Nolan Trust takes back lives from leukaemia by managing, and recruiting new donors to, the UK's most successful bone marrow register. They also conduct pioneering research into improving the effectiveness of bone marrow transplants. This is a charity which saves lives; they will put your much needed donations to the best possible use!
Everyone involved is doing the cycle for various charities and a lot of effort from everybody has been put in, both in training and organisation, to make this happen. So please, please sponsor generously! ;)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Zurich Community Trust (UK) Ltd will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Stefan
(P.S. If you don’t feel that I deserve your sponsorship money for the cycle alone I am also hoping to complete all 85 miles of the Parish walk on my return.)
