Bupa Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

Standing together with communities experiencing injustice, we fight for trade that values people over profit. We used to be called Traidcraft Exchange.

Story

Despite having a very dodgy knee, I will be running (limping?) the Great North Run. To add a bit of fun I will be running dressed as...

A TEABAG!

There is method in my madness - I will be running for Traidcraft Exchange who are the UK's leading development charity specialising in trade.

They work through Asia and Africa working to transform the lives of the poor in developing countries.

One project is in the Indian tea industry, where the dramatic fall in the international price of tea has caused a crisis. For families like Rabia’s, who grow and pick tea, it’s tough scratching out a living and as tea prices fall, living conditions deteriorate.

£10 could give a tea worker like Rabia the training and knowledge they need to help secure fairer conditions and trade terms.

So if 15 of you sponsor me just £10 (less than £1 a mile) it will make a massive difference.
