Our personal message:

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

We are about to embark on the biggest challenge of our lives. We are Mark Rundle and Richard Page I.T. Managers at Cefas (The Centre for the Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science) www.cefas.co.uk.

In June 2006 we will be travelling to Africa to take part in the Morocco Mountain Trek for Scope, the charity for people with cerebral palsy.

We will climb North Africa's highest peak, Toubkal at 4,167m, in a weekend! Every six hours a child is born with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK, and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly. It can happen to any child. Scope is the largest charity in the UK working with people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers. The money raised from the Morocco Mountain Trek will allow Scope to continue running their vital services which are designed to support disabled people in every aspect of their lives from birth through to adulthood. Scope's aim is that disabled people achieve equality in everyday life. Here's a Scope shopping list illustrating how different amounts of money can help them support disabled people: £4.50 will buy an adapted can opener to make it easier to prepare meals independently £36 could enable a fieldworker to support a family for one month £60 will buy a single chin switch so that a person with little or no hand control can operate equipment such as an electric wheelchair or computer £120 could help provide remote control equipment, which would adjust the height of worktops, sinks and cookers to allow them to be used by disabled people who use wheelchairs £199 buys a head-operated mouse, to allow access to a computer £700 is around one day's cost for Scope's CP Helpline £3,000 could buy a specialist bed, allowing carers to assist a person in and out of bed, and for the person to be more independent To donate please click "Sponser Us Now", we really appreciate your support. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support.
