Emilie Lily McAtee was born on 28th August, 2009. Unfortunately, during her birth she suffered oxygen deprivation and was born with severe brain damage.

After several weeks spent in the intensive care unit undergoing numerous tests and treatments, (including Cooling Therapy) she was able to move home with her proud parents Rhodri and Hannah.

Although still very poorly, Emilie appeared to be making progress. At her Christening she was absolutely adorable; there was hope that she would grow up to be a relatively independent young lady.

Then suddenly, early on 23rd December, Emilie suffered a relapse from which she didn't recover. She passed away later that day.

www.team-emilie.com has been set up to raise money to support worthy causes in Emilie's memory.

Sparks Children’s Medical Research Charity envisions a world where all babies are given the best possible start in life and where a medical condition or disability at birth is not a barrier to opportunity and fulfilment.

They aim to achieve this by funding high quality medical research that is intended to have a practical and positive effect on the lives of children.

Sparks has been chosen not only because Emilie was treated with cooling techniques funded by research from Sparks, but because they look to support research in all fields of medicine. Nearly £20million has been raised and pledged to research projects so far by Sparks, and we want to add to that!

Team Emilie is taking part in several events in the coming months and we need your support! From 10km runs to sky-dives, to the near-1000 mile 'Deloitte Ride Across Britain' in June, we will be pushing ourselves to inspire as many people as possible to donate to this fantastic charity.

Please visit www.team-emilie.com for more info on the challenges ahead!

We are delighted to have Peter Green on board as our Key Sponsor and supporter. www.petergreen.co.uk has pledged to donate £1,500 to Sparks, as well as supporting us by providing jerseys and marketing materials. Peter Green is an independent, family business with 55 years heritage. Their range of fine furniture, beds and flooring is the biggest in the region, with stores in Southampton and Reading. We are looking to hold fund-raising events in-store, so keep your eyes peeled on their website for more details.

We are also grateful for the support of Farrans Construction Ltd, who have made a sizeable donation themselves to Sparks. Please visit www.farrans.com for more info.

Thank you for taking the time to read about this project. I hope you feel compelled to help us in our quest to raise a stonk-load of money for this fantastic cause!

Team Emilie. Xxx
