Team Invincible – Karen Kitchen, Dawn King, Samantha Fielding, Alison Grasmeder, Tim Herrick, Katrina McDonnell and Bryony Black – are taking part in The Big Walk 2018, a walking challenge on 22 June.
This is a 26.2-mile marathon-distance Peak District walk! Starting in Lodge Moor, 3 miles west of the University, and finishing on the campus, the Big Walk 2018 will take in wonderful scenery in the Peak District, including Stanage Edge, Derwent Edge, Low Bradfield and the Loxley valley.
Why are we doing this?
We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
Further information about the Sheffield Scanner can be found at www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner
So please donate to this fantastic cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE BIG WALK 2018 AND THE SHEFFIELD SCANNER CAMPAIGN!
