Wild, Wassabi and the Jester (thats us) thought we'd do something nice. Hmmmm....Some people back cupcakes, some read to the blind, some take out the rubbish or put some pennies in the charity box. What we decided is maybe a little off the beaten track. We're going to drive a 957cc, left hand drive rustbucket the 7000 odd miles from London to Cameroon, without any help, in the name of our charity, Send a Cow.
We nominated this charity as it enourages sustainable development to allow the disadvantaged families of Cameroon to help themselves. 'Seventy percent of Africa's poor families are reliant on their land for survival but they face an uphill battle. Exhausted land, environmental degradation, changing climates, conflict and disease create huge challenges. They have the ability to build a better life but lack the resources. Send a Cow works hand in hand with communities providing training in natural farming techniques and gifts such as livestock, seeds and trees, enabling families to feed their families and build a livelihood.'
What exactly are we doing?
Its 'The Adventurists' Africa Rally! https://theadventurists.com What this entails is getting our little car Renault 4 through France and Spain and ALL the way down the west african coast to the seldomly explored Cameroon. Now this little car isn't fancy, there is no health and safety and he's heading for quite an adventure! Blazing through the european winter, scaling the heights of the snow dense pyrenees, navigating the turbulent oceans (well sort of on a ferry to Morocco), traversing the unforgiveable sahara and fighting with the raging rivers and mozzies of tropical west Africa. Not to mention bandits, malaria, crooked cops, border posts etc etc. We're on a mission... That mission is to Survive... ... ...and of course if we can raise some much needed funds for our chosen sustainable charity, Send a Cow, that would be fantastic! A £1000 is our target so dig deep if you can please and stay tuned into our rather silly adventure.
