Story
Myself, my Father and my best friend, are competing in an olympic distance team traithlon on the 23rd June 2013.
The race:
1500m swim : Chloe Barton
44km bike : Jon Shelton
10k run : Jennie Shelton
My 13 year old brother Tom will also be competing on the day in a junior triathlon to raise money for the charity.
We have chosen to raise money for the GBS support group, as they have been a fantastic support to us. In 2009 Dad was suddenly admitted to hospital after waking up unable to move. After a few days of uncertainty he was diagnosed with GBS, and was in hospital for several months.
GBS is a neurological disease, and the severity varies from case to case. For more information visit: http://www.gbs.org.uk/
Dad went from an active man in his 40s to being unable to function on his own, practically over night. He has worked tirelessly to walk again after relying on a wheelchair for several months. He has shown incredible determination to get his movement back, and we are so proud of him undertaking this huge challenge with us.
Chloe is an experienced triathlete, and has many achievement in the sport which she should be very proud of.
However I have never run 10km, and although I enjoy sport this will be a great challenge to myself, as well as the rest of the team.
We would be so grateful for any donations, thank you.
