Story
Thanks for clicking the link and visiting our fundraising page, we greatly appreciate your time!
Prostate Cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, killing one man every 45 minutes in the UK. Thats the same time it takes to play three holes of golf. Thats why we're golfing the distance and taking on The Big Golf Race, to keep men in the game for longer.
On June 3rd; Josh, Brad, Callum and Kev will be playing 72 consecutive holes around Craigielaws championship golf course. Tee to green the course is 6601 yards from the white tees and 6043 from the yellows. We've decided to do three from the yellows and one from the whites, meaning a total of 24,730 yards (roughly 14 miles). Of course we will try to be as straight as we can throughout the day, however we do expect to walk a great deal more than that! We will tee off at 6am, and are hoping to be putting on the 72nd hole at around 10pm.
Cancer has unfortunately affected all four of us in our lives, like it does to so many others all over the UK, so when we saw an advertisement for The Big Golf Race and the charity it was raising money towards we wanted to play our part! Callum's Mum recently got the all clear from breast cancer, and his Granny is unfortunately now battling lung cancer. And specifically to the charity at hand, Josh's Grandad received treatment for Prostate Cancer a few years ago thankfully making a full recovery! Meanwhile Brads assistant kitman at Falkirk 'Bobby Wilson', is currently receiving treatment for the disease so he will be in our thoughts on the way round.
The money raised by this challenge will help fund research into life-saving treatments for prostate cancer and provide practical support to men and their families.
We will be putting bits and pieces up on our separate social media accounts, feel free to give us a follow on instagram or twitter to keep updated. @callump13 / @Callump7 - @joshmeekings6 / @JoshMeekings92 @bradmckay22 / @brad_mckay - @kevmch12
Lastly, your support will mean a lot. All donations little or large will go a long way to helping men with prostate cancer, so again, THANK YOU!
