Hi there, Thank you for visiting out fundraising page. Team 25, established by and made up of a group of old friends, many of whom started school together way back in the eighties, made their debut in the Rhino Charge in 2000. The crew, who are the heart of Team 25 and fondly referred to as "the boys", is currently made up of Ragu Muraya, Michael Ogwapit, Kevin Bender, Victor Oyango, Teeku Patel, Marki Muinde and team coach Devan Khagram. All members of the crew are deeply committed to conservation in Kenya. For the last seven years, Team 25 has raised a total of Ksh 5 million ($75,000). The Rhino Ark is a registered charitable trust and was founded 21 years ago in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service to conserve and protect the Aberdare ecosystem. One of Rhino Ark’s primary projects is an electric fence completely surrounding the Aberdare National Park and Reserve. The fence protects the enclosed ecosystem, including the endangered black rhino, and helps eliminate human/wildlife conflicts by protecting the lives, crops and livestock of neighboring farmers. The Aberdares is one of Kenya’s main rain catchments areas and the source of five of the country’s main rivers, providing hydro-electrical power and water to millions of Kenyans. The myriad of flora and fauna in the Aberdares are an attraction for tourists, a keystone of the Kenyan economy. The fence being built by the Rhino Ark is an effort to harmonize all these interests, physical, financial and political, in an equitable and sustainable way. Since the Ark’s founding, over 347 kms of the fence has been built. In that area, ecosystems, forest, animals and farms are really benefiting. In 1988, The Rhino Ark and its supporters devised an exciting and novel fundraising event: the annual Rhino Charge! The Rhino Charge is a unique off-road orienteering event – the only one of its kind in Africa. The primary objective of the event is to reach all 13 guard posts in the shortest possible distance across difficult trackless terrain. Last year over 55 cars entered the event and it raised a record breaking Kshs. 68 million ($710,000). All the funds that are received by Team 25 will go directly to support conservation in Kenya. We simply ask that you continue help us lead conservation efforts in Kenya by supporting us in this way. Kind regards Kevin, Teeku, Mike, Devan, Mark, Victor and Ragu
