Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common, life-threatening, inherited diseases. Each week 5 babies are born with CF and it affects thousands of people in the UK. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only charity in the UK that deals with all aspects of CF. They fund research into treatments and work towards a cure, they aim to ensure those with CF get the appropriate medical care and support they need.

 

Recently it was announced that vital gene therapy trials would have to be postponed due to lack of funds (find out more here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-13643267).

 

For us, and for those living with CF, this just isn't an option. This is a crucial stage in the development of gene therapy but for the trials to go ahead an extra £6 million needs to be raised. Every pound you donate brings us one step closer to better treatments and that has motivated us to get running! 

 

So, on September 25th Ellie, Tams, Liz and Soph will be pulling on their running shoes and putting their best foot forward for CF. As many of you know the CF Trust is a charity very close to our hearts and we can think of no better reason to get running. Many of you will also know that despite our success in last year's British 10k we are not exactly examples of athletic prowess. The 13.1 miles will feel extremely long (and probably rather painful) but we know why we're doing it and now so do you.

 

So dig deep guys and get donating, give up a couple of pints this weekend for a fantastic cause!
