Flora London Marathon 2006 · 23 April 2006 ·

For 35 years, St Luke’s has been providing free of charge specialist palliative care and support for people in mid & south Cheshire living with life limiting illnesses. Our support begins from the moment someone is diagnosed, through to palliative care and then ultimately end of life care.

Story

So the big day has been and gone for another year...heres how we did...

First home for Team Archer was Nicky.  Nicky finished in a massive personal best time of 2.53.52, earning herself 28th place amongst the ladies.

Next came Dad, Tony, who also ran a PB, knocking 3 minutes off last years time, crossing the line in 3.06.18.

Nathan struggled a little in the latter miles, and insists he will do it again and do a bit more training next time!  Nevertheless he thoroughly enjoyed the race and was pleased to finish in 3 hours 56 minutes.

Thank you for all your support, but rememeber its not too late to make a donation!

With less than a week to go, its time for an update....

Unfortunately injury and illness has meant that Amy has been unable to do the necessary training in preparation for the race and is therefore disappointed to have had to withdraw from this years marathon.  By withdrawing from this years race she will be guaranteed a number for next year, so hopes to be on the start line in 2007.

For the other members of the team, the hard training is now behind them, and its all about resting up for the big day now!

The 'Team'...

We all run for Vale Royal Athletics Club (so will be easily spotted in london in our fluorescent yellow and blue club vests!!!).

Dad (Tony) is a veteran of long distance races and will be running the London Marathon for the third time, after achieving a 'good for his age' time in last years race.

The eldest of the offspring, Nathan, is a regular 1st team member of Winnington Park RFC and has taken up running in the last 12 months and this will be his first marathon!

Amy is the main instigator of the fundraising efforts.  This will be her first attempt at the marathon distance, and she decided that if we were all going to run 26.2 miles it should at least be for a good cause!!!

Nicky ('Baby Archer')
may be the youngest family member, but is also favourite to cross the line first.  The 20 year old student ran in the 2004 and 2005 race, but has qualified for a place in the elite ladies race for the first time this year.
