Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
Breast cancer rates have increased by more than 50% over the last twenty years, making it the most common cancer in the UK – with more than 44,000 women (430,000 in European Union and 1,000,000+ Worldwide) diagnosed each year. That is more than 100 UK women a day! Additionally, around 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
Walk the Walk is a grant-making charity dedicated not only to raising money for vital breast cancer causes but also passionate about encouraging women & men to become fitter and healthier, and take control of their own wellbeing. The funds that they’ve granted to research have already extended our knowledge of breast cancer, and enabled better treatments and understanding of this horrendous disease. Since 2000 they have also been making grants to The Bristol Cancer Help Centre, which helps cancer patients and their families receive the best emotional support via complimentary therapies (such as visualization and relaxation) that enable patients to find their own empowerment, and strength to face their journey through cancer.
The MoonWalk is organised by Walk the Walk and takes place in Edinburgh at night! This is a unique event as not only do all the participants power walk a marathon (26.2 miles) or half marathon (13.1 miles) depending on which distance they have chosen, but they all wear decorated bras to raise awareness for breast cancer. The funds raised for this event remain in Scotland.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Walk the Walk Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support,
