Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

A group of 24 cyclists from BP Aberdeen will cycle across Scotland at the end of May.  Riders start on the West Coast at Skye Bridge and finish north of Aberdeen at Newburgh.  It’s a tough ride with some challenging hill climbs and a total distance of 230miles comprising 75 to 85 miles per day.  Most of the riders have not ridden distances close to these, never mind over the 3 days!

However, all will be highly motivated by the purpose - to raise funds for those in tough situations.  We will be supporting two main charities:  Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.  These are diseases for which today there is no cure and the discomfort that the riders will face is nothing to the relentless hurdles faced by the sufferers of these conditions every day.  Through these charities much needed help, support and medical research is provided.

Ian Bowen (pictured left) suffers from MND.  Ian worked for BP as a Drilling and Petroleum Engineer for 28 years.  He retired from BP and was diagnosed with MND 2 years ago.  Ian worked until January 2009 when he was no longer able to continue.  Like Steve, Ian now relies on a wheelchair for mobility.  He has three sons.  Ian describes the reasons to support MND Scotland are it provides valuable support services for MND sufferers and their families. It also raises awareness and promotes research to understand MND and to find a cure.
