The Mac4x4 challenge is, in basic terms, a huge navigation exercise and fun time for us fools who like to drive off road! The Mac4x4 challenge has raised over £149,000 +, last years total that came to £110,000 for Macmillan Cancer support since it was first held in 2002 and is growing in both numbers and funds raised each year. The event is split over the weekend of the 7th-9th March 2008 and the competitors will spend pretty much the whole weekend driving around on and off road trying to collect set navigational points, clues and answer questions. Last year the Mac4x4's "did" started just out side Herefordshire and headed right up to Bala. The thought of spending an entire weekend in the car might not sound particularly exciting to many of you, but it is for charity ! Why not have a look at http://www.mac4x4.co.uk/index.htm. As you can see we have space on the side of the Land Rover to put a company logo, or personal message if you wish. How ever we would ask that you give a bit more if you would like this to happen. A bit about us.... Driver: James T Brackenbury A very experienced off-road driver he has been involved with competition driving for many years and I also enjoy off-road driving as a hobby. Have driven overEurope behind the wheel of a Land Rover and also driven though many different types of terrain. Last year I competed in the Mac with a good friendTerry Dennis (who is also competing in 2008) where we finished 36th out of 59, more luck then skill Navigator: Peter Brackenbury The cause for his son driving a Land Rover to start with and has been regretting it ever since, still he does enjoy the time away in areas of the country side he could not access other wise and also its time away from her indoors, which has lead to Peter signing up for the job anyway. A previous job consisted of drawing maps so now we can see if he can read them too.. The Truck Land Rover Defender 90 200Tdi 1990, has been modified beyond standard and has competed in many different events from Greenlane trips, RTV right the way up to Winch challenges. The trucks modifications include Suspension lift, Mud tyres, Disk brakes all round, Engine performance modifications, Superwinch 16.5 with custom bumper, safari snorkel, addition exterior lights, internal fire extinguisher system, and many more So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
This trip will be done in memory of Vince Amato who lost his battle to cancer on the 5th May 1990, who left behind his wife, three childeren and seven grand childeren. Towards the last few years MacMillan Cancer Support took care of his him, so this is the how we want to give something back....
