Story
Hiya!!
Thanks for donating to Amnesty, it really means a lot to me, and also I won't be able to chicken out of jumping now!
I've decided to jump for amnesty international because it's a charity I feel really strongly about and a lot of people don't really know much about it.
Internationally, people are imprisoned without trial, tortured or simply disappear because of their religion, ethnic creed or prinicples.
It could even be something really simple that we take for granted in England like the right to complain about something.
In other countries, you could get tortured for going on a student protest.
Amnesty international does make a difference by letting those in power know that we are aware of what is happening and it is not acceptable.
Even if someone is locked away in a remote prison without access to medical treatment or legal advice, letters from amnesty supporters let prisoners know they are not alone and makes those in authority wary that they are under the eyes of the international community.
I feel really lucky to have been born in a country like Britain where we take so many things for granted, but a twist of fate may have meant that anyone of us could have been born in a different situation and I'm sure we would want someone to help us.
Look at what Nelson Mandela did for the democratic process in South Africa after he was released from prison, so things can change!
thank you xxxx
