Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

Team Avilton - Are Rupert Nicholson, Stephanie Brimacombe and Tom Williams and we took part in the 2010 Polar Challenge, winning the race by just over 2 days. Despite now finishing the race we are set on achieving our goal of £50,000 and appreciate any help you can provide to help us get there.

Our Charity -  We are raising money for Mencap, a fantastic charity who strives to create a word where people with a learning disability recieve equal rights and opportunities.

The Race - Said to be one of the most extreme challenges in the most extreme of environments the competitors in the Polar Challenge face amongst other things temperatures as low as -70c (wind chill) and crossing the migratory route of 80% of the worlds polar bear population. Teams do not have dogs or any other forms of propulsion, travelling by foot and ski they pull their supplies 350 miles in 120lb pulks stopping on route at three manned checkpoints to re-supply.
